Syracuse @ Louisville

Although there’s only 3-4 games on most rotation schedules today, the marketing wonks at ESPN have bestowed a “Big Monday” moniker on tonight’s Syracuse/Louisville and Kansas/Kansas State games. One of our friend sites, Beyond The Bets, did an excellent on the late game, so let’s take a look at the early contest, #2 Syracuse at #19 Louisville (+3, 139). (All information gleaned from our Current Card – Detail View section). The first thing that jumps out is Louisville’s domination of Syracuse over the last few years. The Cards have won the last 7 against Syracuse straight up and covered the number in 6 of those games (the Jan ’07 game was a push). Of note, Louisville won 3 of those games as an outright dog. Situational data shows that in the last five years, Louisville has actually won every game outright in which they were a home dog in a conference game.

The sortable results tab on the Current Card reveals that Syracuse’s lone loss to Notre Dame three weeks ago. The Orange have split 3-3 ATS dating back to that game. The team does perform well in the road favorite role, racking up an 8-3 ATS record in this situation over the last two seasons. Meanwhile, since dropping 5 out of 7 in a late-December, early-January stretch, the Cardinals have been on fire — posting perfect 6-0 records on both the Line and Moneyline in their last 6 games. This is the first time in two seasons that Louisville is a home dog.
