NFL Historic Trends At The Conference-Division Level

The analysis below provides a look at  Money Line, Line, and Total Results for the NFL by Conference and Division.

A review of this data shows that many strong and consistent trends can be seen with specific Conference-Division Match-ups.

What we look for, are trends that have been higher than 60.0% over time, such as:

  • When the AFC East plays the AFC South, the Dog wins ATS 70.8%
  • When AFC East plays the NFC South, the Under is the side 81.3%
  • When the NFC East plays the NFC West, the Favorite wins ATS 63.6% and the Over is the side 62.9%

As with these types of presentations, there is a fair amount of information for you to digest, but we hope you find it useful and informative.

In the embedded Excel workbook below,  you will find the following worksheets:

  1. CONF_DIV_BY_ML_ATS-TOTAL – RESULTS BY CONFERENCE-DIVISION BY FAVORITE TYPE
  2. CONF_DIV_BY_AWAY_HOME – RESULTS BY CONFERENCE-DIVISION BY AWAY-HOME

Please note the following regarding the data:

  • The first Excel worksheet breaks down the Conference-Division Match-Ups by Favorite Type for Money Line, ATS, and Totals
  • The second Excel worksheet breaks down the Conference-Division Match-Ups by Away/Home Results for Money Line, ATS, and Totals
  • Each worksheet presents the data for All History and Current Season To Date
  • The All History data consists of a five year history for the NFL exclusive of the Current Season
  • Any occurrence of a percentage greater than 60.0% is highlighted in green
  • All pushes have been omitted
  • On the Excel Web App toolbar of embedded spreadsheet, if you click the right-most button, View Full Size Workbook, the entire workbook will open for viewing in a new window
